i've actually been doodling some recently. i'll try to add the interesting stuff in the near future sometime. i think i had to stop taking art classes to restore my desire to draw on my own...

more recent reading: Breakfast of Champions, The Kings of Infinite Space, Foop!, The Handmaid's Tale, A Whiff of Death, The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse

books and things

well, no art recently, i guess. sorry! i've been working and reading, mostly. reading the old sci fi masters, the fantasy giants, and some new kids who haven't found their places yet

books are good. asmiov is amazing. vonnegut, pullman, mccaffrey, bradbury... okay, i could go on (and this is just recently, sheesh)

by the way, buy books at used stores, through garage sales, etc. please.

cliché, maybe, but i'll give in for a little while (give in to myself)

don't expect great things to come of this

"Art is a way of saying what it means to be alive, and the most salient feature of existence is the unthinkable odds against it. For every way that there is of being here, there are an infinity of ways of not being here. Historical accident snuffs out whole universes with every clock tick. Statistics declare us ridiculous. Thermodynamics prohibits us. Life, by any reasonable measure, is impossible, and my life--this, here, now--infinitely more so. Art is a way of saying, in the face of all that impossibility, just how worth celebrating it is to be able to say anything at all."
-Richard Powers

alright, guys, this is it

i think i'm done posting on DA for now... college rather consumes my life, and though i'm still creating, i've lost interest in putting any of it up here.

not to mention that the drama around DA has become a little excessive...

well, i'll be lurking around for awhile, take care, everybody.

art classes

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 7, 2005, 7:32 PM
so, monday i started a watercolor class at a local art gallery. i haven't painted at all in years... it was quite an experience. when i've got something finished, i'll post it here. who knows how it'll turn out, paint really isn't my forte...

i'm tempted to take some of the abstract watercolor work i did and do something with pens or markers over it. i'll have to do it when the teacher's not watching, hahah, he wants us to paint.
