Wow, it's been a long time. I finally had the urge to draw, though not quite enough inspiration to come up with something out of my head. Thus, I resorted to drawing one of my favorite female scifi characters - Zoe from Firefly
Actually, it's my second recent attempt at a pencil portrait, but the first one didn't have enough of a resemblance to the source picture. It's far (far far far) from perfect, but I'm proud of it.
Now that this whole doing-art-thing is happening again, hopefully I'll be back soon with more
this is wonderful! i love it! (and i'm envious of your ability to draw wavy hair)
i like it when people use a neutral background and pick out the shadows and highlights; i need to try it someday. i'm curious - what did you use for the highlights?
thanks so much! the hair... hahaha... i stuck to the source for about an hour or so, then gave up and winged it. i'm glad it turned out reasonable. wavy hair is insane
for these highlights, i just used a white prismacolor pencil. the other thing i use occasionally is a "sakura pen touch" white ink pen thingy (from some art supply store, maybe michael's)

The knack of flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
